Urban tiles of the Future

City tiles are an integral part of the urban landscape, ensuring the comfort and safety of citizens when walking on sidewalks. However, with the development of technology, urban tiles begin to play a new role - turning the steps of passers-by into a source of energy.
The technology that allows urban tiles to generate electricity is based on the use of piezoelectric materials. These materials generate an electric current under deformation or pressure, which allows you to use the force of the steps of passers-by to generate energy. Thus, paving slabs of the city become not only a means of ensuring security, but also an innovative source of energy for urban systems.

One example of the use of urban tiles as an energy source is the installation of paving stones on the pedestrian zone in the Piazza del Popolo in Rome. As a result of the installation of piezoelectric plates, which are located under the paving stones, the steps taken by people generate electrical energy, which is used to illuminate public space at night.

However, energy generation is not the only advantage of using piezoelectric materials in urban tiles. These materials can also be used to monitor the movement of people and vehicles on the streets, which allows city authorities to obtain valuable data to improve urban infrastructure and the safety of citizens.

Concrete paving slabs can also be used to generate electricity. Last year, a road tile was installed in Beijing that generates electrical energy using "smart concrete" technology. Smart concrete contains integrated piezoelectric elements that convert mechanical energy from passing people and vehicles into electrical energy. This allows not only to generate energy for lighting and other electrical systems on the streets, but also to reduce dependence on traditional energy sources, such as power grids.

Smart city tile technology has a number of advantages. Firstly, it contributes to the sustainable development of cities, allowing the use of energy that would otherwise be lost. This reduces dependence on fossil fuels and helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Secondly, it contributes to improving safety on the streets, as it allows collecting data on the movement of people and transport, which can be used to optimize urban planning and road infrastructure.

Projects on the use of smart city tiles have already been implemented in different cities around the world. For example, in London, a sidewalk was installed, consisting of special tiles that generate energy when people and vehicles pass. This energy is used to power street lighting and charge mobile devices. Also, a "smart tile" was created in Seoul, which helps to collect data on air quality and traffic on the streets of the city.

Urban tile, which turns steps into an energy source, is an innovative and sustainable solution for urban infrastructure. It combines security, energy efficiency and data collection in one device, contributing to the development of smart and environmentally sustainable cities. In the future, it is expected to expand the use of smart city tiles, as well as further innovations in the field of energy generation and data collection, which opens up new opportunities for the development of modern cities and ensuring an improved quality of life and safety of their residents.
